Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Lash Tribe adhesives?
The Ultra Rapid Black sets in 1 to 2 seconds and is our fastest-setting adhesive, suited to experienced lash artists working at speed. The Rapid Black has a slightly longer setting time and is popular with artists who prefer more working time or are in lower humidity environments. The Rapid Clear dries to a clear finish and is ideal for clients who prefer a natural look or have sensitivities to carbon black. The Gold Class is our premium oil-resistant formula with a 0.3 second setting time, suited to advanced lash artists performing volume and mega volume sets at high speed.
What humidity and temperature should I use my lash adhesive in?
All Lash Tribe adhesives perform best at 22 to 24 degrees Celsius and 30 to 70% humidity. In higher humidity the adhesive will set faster. In lower humidity it will set slower. Using a hygrometer in your lash room to monitor conditions is strongly recommended. A humidifier or dehumidifier can be used to adjust your environment for optimal adhesive performance.
Do I need a lash primer?
Using a lash primer before every set is one of the most effective ways to improve adhesive bonding and client retention. A primer removes natural oils, debris, and product residue from the natural lashes and balances their pH level, creating the ideal surface for the adhesive to bond to. The Prep Me Lash Primer is our premium primer option and the Lash Primer Prep and Prime is a great value everyday option.
What is a superbonder and do I really need one?
A superbonder is a professional finishing liquid applied to the base of lash extensions at the end of a set. It instantly cures the adhesive bond, which eliminates residual cyanoacrylate fumes that can cause eye irritation in sensitive clients. It also makes the cured bond more flexible and resilient, which significantly improves retention. If you are not already using a superbonder at the end of every set, it is one of the single biggest improvements you can make to your client results.
How do I store my lash adhesive?
Opened adhesive bottles should be stored in a cool, dry spot away from direct sunlight and in an airtight container for no longer than 4 weeks after opening. Unopened bottles can be stored in the fridge or freezer for up to 6 months. Always allow refrigerated adhesive to come to room temperature before opening to avoid condensation entering the bottle. Never shake a cold bottle and always shake for 30 seconds before each use.
How do I use the Lash Tribe Cream Remover?
Apply the Lash Tribe Cream Remover to the lash bond using a micro brush or cotton swab, being careful to avoid contact with the eye. Allow it to sit for 3 to 5 minutes to dissolve the adhesive bond, then gently slide the extensions off the natural lashes. Follow with a thorough lash cleanse to remove any remover residue. Never pull or force extensions off as this can damage the natural lashes.
Can clients use regular face wash to clean their lash extensions?
No. Most regular face washes contain oils and surfactants that break down eyelash extension adhesive and cause premature lash loss. The Prolong Lash Cleanser and Lash Tribe Foaming Cleanser are specifically formulated to be safe for use with cyanoacrylate adhesives, oil-free, and pH balanced. We recommend advising all clients to use a lash-safe cleanser twice daily for maximum retention results.
